Insurance
Travel, Medical, and Emergency Evacuation Insurance
We strongly recommend that all tour participants have at least $250,000 in medical insurance and $500,000 in emergency evacuation insurance valid in the tour destination.
Additional Travel Insurance
We also encourage you to purchase comprehensive travel insurance. This type of insurance can protect against:
- Trip cancellation or interruption
- Travel delays
- Loss of baggage or travel documents
- Baggage delays
The amount and type of coverage you choose will depend on your needs and budget. We recommend comparing insurance plans to find one that best fits your requirements.
Timing Your Travel Insurance Purchase
Consider purchasing travel insurance at the time of your initial reservation and deposit payment. Doing so may allow you to:
- Have the ‘Pre-existing Conditions Exclusion’ waived by the insurer (subject to certain conditions).
- Opt for ‘Cancel for Any Reason’ (CFAR) insurance, which usually needs to be purchased shortly after making your first payment.
CFAR insurance can be particularly helpful, as it allows you greater flexibility. You can start with coverage for your deposit and increase the insured amount as you make further payments for flights and the remaining balance.
Finding the Right Travel Insurance
Customwalks is not a licensed travel insurance provider and cannot make specific recommendations. However, we strongly encourage you to:
- Research and educate yourself about travel insurance options.
- Contact a licensed travel insurance broker with expertise in travel policies to tailor the right plan for your needs.
- Be cautious if purchasing from a travel agent, as they can only sell policies without offering advice tailored to your specific circumstances.
The right travel insurance should be personalized, ensuring you have adequate coverage for your unique situation.
